Note the absence of The Tree of Life. The nominations are decided upon by the entire BAFTA membership, then the specific branches decide the winners. AMPAS does the reverse, whereby the branches nominate and then the whole Academy decides the winners. This only goes to show how a large voting body is less likely to pick an esoteric art film over more accessible fare, which is why I maintain that Lubezki won't win the Oscar.
