Didn't have a lot of time to put together a respectable list this week, but I thought as Movember draws to a close, now is the time to highlight ten kickass movie moustaches that I only wish I could grow.
10. Billy, Easy Rider (1969)
Wild and untamed is the way to go for Dennis Hopper's wild and untamed biker.
9. The Bandit,
Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
Simple yet stylish with a subtle curve works for Burt Reynolds.
8. Emperor Ming, Flash Gordon (1980)
Max von Sydow's epic fu manchu is one for the ages.
7. Charlie Chaplin, (various)
To those who still refer to it as the Hitler moustache, Chuck was making it look good well before Adolf came to power.
6. Derek Smalls, This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
Harry Shearer's fierce handlebars are a force to NOT be reckoned with!
5. Groucho Marx, (various)
Groucho's push broom leaves a distinctive visual signature.
4. Rhett Butler, Gone with the Wind (1939)
Clark Gable would sport this elegant pencil-thin moustache in many a picture, but none more iconic than this.
3. Sam Elliott, (various)
Now this is a proper moustache! Full bodied and masculine but also completely under control.
2. Captain Hook, Hook (1991)
Dustin Hoffman broke out the old moustache wax for a vintage curl as Neverland's vile (but nevertheless classy) villain.
1. Bill the Butcher,
Gangs of New York (2002)
This moustahce clearly says, "don't tangle with me!" Indeed, I wouldn't want to tangle with that mighty mass of facial hair; I might never get untangled!
